La sorpresa maggiore della serata è rappresentata dalla vittoria schiacciante di "Game of Thrones", che nella sua stagione più debole è riuscita a portarsi a casa tutti i premi principali, fatta eccezione per il premio alla migliore attrice non protagonista. Nello specifico, sorprendono i premi alla regia e sceneggiatura di "Mother's Mercy", sicuramente non il punto più alto raggiunto dagli autori nel corso di questi anni, e il premio a Peter Dinklage, che resta senza ombra di dubbio il miglior componente del cast e uno dei migliori attori nel panorama televisivo, ma che in questa quinta stagione ha avuto pochissimo spazio, senza riuscire quindi a lasciare il segno come fatto, ad esempio, un anno fa.

Dopo queste tre vittorie era abbastanza prevedibile l'arrivo del premio più ambito: per la prima volta "Game of Thrones" ha vinto come migliore serie drama, e questa scelta dell'Academy sembra quasi un tentativo di dare un riconoscimento a quella che, al momento, è forse la serie più in voga in tutto il mondo, approfittando anche di una concorrenza non troppo agguerrita. Tra le vittorie di ieri sera e quelle conseguite nella notte dei Creative Emmy, la serie targata HBO si è aggiudicata ben 12 premi.

Per quanto riguarda le altre categorie, non sorprende il dominio di Olive Kitteridge tra le miniserie e la divisione nelle comedy tra Veep e Transparent, mentre è stata una piacevolissima sorpresa la seconda vittoria consecutiva di Uzo Aduba, che dopo aver vinto un anno fa si è aggiudicata la statuetta come miglior attrice non protagonista in una serie drama per il ruolo di Crazy Eyes.

Tra i momenti più emozionanti della serata, oltre al sentito discorso di Uzo Aduba, c'è stato il ritorno di Tracy Morgan dopo i problemi di salute e la meritatissima vittoria di Jon Hamm come miglior attore protagonista in una serie drama: non ho seguito "Mad Men" durante la sua messa in onda, ma era chiaro che, dopo le tante nomination, fosse giusto premiare il protagonista di una delle serie di maggior impatto di questi ultimi anni, e l'ovazione e la conseguente standing ovation all'annuncio del vincitore ne sono state la prova.

La serata non ha avuto particolari guizzi comici, fatta eccezione per il sempre fantastico Ricky Gervais, ma Andy Samberg ha comunque provato a dare la sua impronta allo show con il divertente video d'apertura e l'opening.

Così un'altra edizione degli Emmy è passata, sperando in un'annata ricca di grandi serie in vista delle prossime premiazioni.

Wes Craven, 1939-2015

Sono ormai passati 14 anni da quando, per la prima volta, ho ricevuto in regalo un dvd, o per essere più precisi, tre: la trilogia di "Scream".
"Scream" è stato il mio primo film horror, è stato il primo film di cui parlare con gli amici, il film che mi ha fatto avvicinare, apprezzare ed amare un genere, sia cinematografico che letterario. E' stato il film che mi ha portato a passare ore nel negozio di videonoleggio della mia città, sbirciando tra la sezione horror, con quel bellissimo misto di paura e curiosità. E' stato uno dei film che ha dato il via alla mia passione per il cinema, e quindi una delle ragioni dell'esistenza di questo blog.
Quindi grazie Maestro, grazie per Ghostface, Freddy e tutti i folli, malvagi antagonisti dei tuoi film, grazie per Nancy, Randy, Gale, Linus e Sidney. Ciao Wes.

Ieri pomeriggio sono state annunciate le nomination per la 67esima edizione degli Emmy Awards; la cerimonia di premiazione verrà condotta da Andy Samberg e si terrà il 20 settembre, mentre 8 giorni prima sarà il turno dei Creative Arts Primetime Emmys.

News: Groovy! La saga di Evil Dead continua su Starz

Dopo le voci di un sequel e l'annuncio fatto al Comic-Con della possibilità di una serie tv, è finalmente arrivata la conferma ufficiale: Starz ha ordinato la prima stagione di "Ash vs. Evil Dead", show tratto dalla trilogia horror di Sam Raimi.
La notizia più gradita ai fan è però il ritorno di Bruce Campbell nei panni del mitico Ash Williams, pronto a riprendere la motosega e ad uccidere demoni.

La prima stagione sarà composta da 10 episodi della durata di 30 minuti ed andrà in onda nel 2015, con Sam Raimi che dirigerà il pilot; il regista sarà anche sceneggiatore della puntata insieme al fratello Ivan e a Tom Spezialy.
Sam Raimi e Bruce Campbell hanno espresso il loro entusiasmo all'idea di poter raccontare le nuove avventure di Ash, promettendo tanti mostri e la tipica dose di ironia della saga.

Cinema: Tutti i cinecomic Marvel e DC in un'infografica

Dopo l'annuncio fatto ad inizio mese delle prossime uscite firmate DC, ieri è stato il turno della Marvel, che ha ufficializzato i titoli e le date di uscita dei suoi prossimi cinecomic, inclusi i film su Black Panther, che sarà interpretato da Chadwick Boseman, e su Doctor Strange, con Benedict Cumberbatch in lizza per ottenere il ruolo.
Ecco di seguito un'infografica che comprende non solo le uscite DC e Marvel, ma anche quelle della FOX, con i prossimi film dedicati al mondo degli X-Men ed il reboot dei Fantastici Quattro, e quelle della Sony con Spider-Man.

News: Channel 4 cancella Utopia

Brutta notizia per i fan di "Utopia": Channel 4 ha annunciato, tramite Twitter, che la serie creata da Dennis Kelly non avrà una terza stagione.
Lo show termina quindi con il finale aperto visto pochi mesi fa, lasciando in bilico il destino dei protagonisti.

E' già stato confermato invece il remake americano di "Utopia", che andrà in onda sulla HBO nel 2015, e che vedrà David Fincher in cabina di regia.

News: Mark Frost parla del ritorno di Twin Peaks

La promessa fatta da Laura Palmer all'agente Cooper nel series finale di "Twin Peaks", che i due si sarebbero rivisti 25 anni dopo, è stata mantenuta: la serie cult creata da David Lynch tornerà nel 2016, e Mark Frost ha fatto un pò di chiarezza a riguardo.

Il produttore esecutivo dello show ha affermato che lui e Lynch covavano l'idea di tornare ad occuparsi di "Twin Peaks" da qualche anno, e che la serie sarebbe potuta tornare solo su Showtime, potendo collaborare nuovamente con David Nevins, che negli anni '90 lavorava alla ABC.
Non si sa ancora se nei nuovi nove episodi avremo la possibilità di rivedere i protagonisti delle prime due stagioni, ed eventualmente come verrà gestita l'assenza degli attori scomparsi in questi anni, ad esempio l'indimenticabile Frank Silva, interprete di Bob.
Frost non ha potuto confermare il coinvolgimento di Angelo Badalamenti, storico autore della colonna sonora dello show, e non si sa ancora se ci sarà un nuovo mistero al centro dei nuovi episodi: l'unica cosa certa è che la storia proseguirà, smentendo fin da subito la possibilità di un remake.
Inoltre, Frost ha lasciato aperta la possibilità ad un ulteriore proseguimento della storia, e che la nuova stagione è dedicata in particolar modo ai fan di vecchia data, sperando comunque di riuscire a conquistare nuovi spettatori.

News: Twin Peaks tornerà su Showtime nel 2016

Nei giorni scorsi, David Lynch e Mark Frost avevano annunciato, tramite Twitter, l'imminente arrivo di notizie su "Twin Peaks".
Ora l'annuncio ufficiale è arrivato: Showtime trasmetterà nel 2016 nove nuovi episodi della serie cult, che saranno scritti da Frost e Lynch, e diretti dal grande regista.

News: FX rinnova You're the Worst

Nella serata di ieri, FX ha annunciato di aver rinnovato "You're the Worst" per una seconda stagione.

La serie creata da Stephen Falk tornerà nel 2015 con 13 episodi, ed andrà in onda su FXX.

Nick Grad, presidente di FX Network, ha espresso il suo entusiasmo per il rinnovo dello show, lodando la scrittura di Falk e le interpretazioni dei due protagonisti, Chris Geere e Aya Cash, ed affermando di non vedere l'ora di scoprire come si evolverà la relazione tra i due.

News: David Fincher dirigerà tutti gli episodi di Utopia

E' stato reso noto il primo, importante dettaglio riguardante il remake, targato HBO, della serie britannica "Utopia": David Fincher dirigerà tutti gli episodi della prima stagione dello show.

Il regista di "Fight Club" e Gillian Flynn, sceneggiatore che ha lavorato con Fincher per il suo ultimo film, "Gone Girl", sono le due menti dietro al progetto, con Dennis Kelly, creatore della serie originale, Jane Featherstone, Joshua Donen e Carolyn G. Bernstein in veste di produttori esecutivi.
Fincher torna a lavorare come regista in una serie televisiva dopo aver diretto i primi due episodi di "House of Cards".

Lo show verrà trasmesso nel 2015, e ruoterà intorno ai fan di una graphic novel underground che scoprono dell'esistenza di un sequel dell'opera, che li porterà in un mondo fatto di cospirazioni e pericoli.

News: Jon Hamm sarà il protagonista dello speciale natalizio di Black Mirror

Channel 4 ha annunciato che Jon Hamm, Oona Chaplin e Rafe Spall saranno i protagonisti dello speciale natalizio di "Black Mirror".

Le riprese della puntata speciale inizieranno questa settimana, ed il creatore dello show, Charlie Brooker, ha rivelato che il personaggio interpretato da Jon Hamm sarà presente in tutte e tre le storie che comporranno l'episodio.
L'attore di Mad Men si è detto entusiasta di poter prendere parte ad una serie come "Black Mirror", show di cui è fan dalla prima ora.

News: Colin Farrell e Vince Vaughn in True Detective

La HBO ha confermato i primi due attori che faranno parte del cast della seconda stagione di "True Detective": si tratta di Colin Farrell, che aveva già annunciato la sua partecipazione alla serie, e Vince Vaughn. Justin Lin prenderà invece il posto di Cary Fukunaga alla regia.

Sono stati rilasciati anche i primi dettagli sulla trama della stagione: Farrell interpreterà il detective Ray Velcoro, mentre Vaughn sarà il criminale Frank Semyon. L'altro detective sarà Paul Woodrugh, e dovrebbe essere interpretato da Taylor Kitsch, mentre la protagonista femminile sarà Ani Bezzerides.
Il casting per quest'ultimo ruolo è ancora in corso, con otto attrici che sono state chiamate da Nic Pizzolatto a leggere lo script: Rosario Dawson, Kelly Reilly, Jessica Biel, Malin Akerman, Abigail Spencer, Oona Chaplin, Jaimie Alexander e Brit Marling. Anche Rachel McAdams sembra essere in lizza per ottenere la parte, anche se sembra abbia altri progetti in cantiere nel periodo delle riprese, e il nome di Keira Knightley potrebbe aggiungersi al gruppo di candidate.

News: Hulu ordina la miniserie 22/11/'63

Hulu ha dato l'ordine per "22/11/'63", miniserie della durata di 9 ore tratta dal libro omonimo di Stephen King e prodotta da J.J. Abrams e dalla Warner Bros. Television.
"22/11/'63" segue le avventure di Jake Epping, insegnante del liceo che, passando dal retro di una tavola calda, viaggia nel tempo, decidendo di impedire l'assassinio di Kennedy, e vivendo una seconda vita, tra pericoli e un grande amore.

Stephen King e J.J. Abrams hanno espresso il loro entusiasmo per poter lavorare insieme ad una storia così avvincente ed emozionante.
Lo scrittore, la Bad Robot di Abrams, Bryan Burk e Bridget Carpenter saranno i produttori esecutivi, con quest'ultima che scriverà la serie.

News: Cucina italiana per la terza stagione di Hannibal

Il creatore di "Hannibal", Bryan Fuller, ha annunciato tramite il suo profilo twitter il titolo dell'attesissima premiere della terza stagione dello show: la puntata si intitolerà "Antipasto", facendo presagire l'uso di piatti italiani nei titoli degli episodi, arrivando dopo la cucina francese della prima stagione e quella giapponese della seconda.

La terza stagione di "Hannibal" andrà in onda sulla NBC nei primi mesi del 2015.

News: Colin Farrell conferma la sua presenza in True Detective

Dopo i rumour delle passate settimane, Colin Farrell ha confermato la sua presenza nella seconda stagione di "True Detective".
L'attore irlandese ha espresso il suo entusiasmo, aggiungendo che la stagione sarà composta da otto episodi, e che le riprese si terranno a Los Angeles, per la durata di quattro o cinque mesi.

Ora non resta che aspettare la conferma da parte della HBO, e l'annuncio del resto del cast.
La seconda stagione dello show creato da Nic Pizzolatto andrà in onda nell'estate del 2015.

News: Il finale alternativo di How I Met Your Mother

E' stato pubblicato poche ore fa il finale alternativo di "How I Met Your Mother", che sarà presente nel cofanetto contenente tutte le nove stagioni dello show, in uscita il 23 settembre negli Stati Uniti.
Il filmato è visibile su Vimeo, e ci mostra in un veloce riassunto la vita di Ted, tra amori finiti male, successi professionali e capre lottatrici, e con in chiusura lo splendido incontro tra il protagonista e la madre, con la fatidica frase "and that kids, is how I met your mother".

Questo finale, a differenza di quello mandato in onda, funziona e rappresenta al meglio lo show: questi minuti non avrebbero cancellato gli errori fatti nell'ultimo episodio, e avrebbero lasciato in sospeso il discorso finale di "Vesuvius", ma sarebbero stati coerenti e avrebbero dato una giusta conclusione al cammino di Ted, finalmente felice con la donna della sua vita, viva e vegeta, risparmiandoci la veloce dipartita della madre, l'atroce discorso dei figli e l'assurdo ritorno da Robin.
Purtroppo però il finale è un altro, e questo filmato non fa altro che riaprire la ferita, pensando alla grande occasione sprecata.

Awards: I vincitori degli Emmy 2014

Nella serata di ieri sono stati assegnati a Los Angeles gli Emmy Awards. "Breaking Bad" ha sbaragliato la concorrenza, portandosi a casa i premi più importanti: quello come miglior serie drama, miglior attore protagonista, miglior attore non protagonista, miglior attrice non protagonista e miglior sceneggiatura.
Ottimo risultato anche per "Sherlock", che si porta a casa tre premi nelle categorie dedicate alle miniserie.

News: Bryan Cranston ed Aaron Paul in uno spot per gli Emmy

L'Academy of Television Arts & Sciences ha messo in rete uno spot molto divertente per pubblicizzare la cerimonia di premiazione degli Emmy, che si terrà la notte del 25 agosto.
I protagonisti dello spot sono i vincitori dell'Emmy Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul e Julia Louis-Dreyfus, ed è una parodia dei programmi sulle compravendite in un banco dei pegni. I due attori di "Breaking Bad" interpretano infatti i due proprietari del negozio, che ricevono la visita dell'attrice di "Veep", decisa a vendere il suo Emmy vinto per "Seinfeld".

I tre saranno tra i protagonisti della serata del 25 agisto: Bryan Cranston è nominato come miglior attore protagonista in una serie drama, Aaron Paul come miglior attore non protagonista in una serie drama e Julia Louis-Dreyfus come miglior attrice protagonista in una serie comedy.

News: Black Mirror ritornerà con uno speciale natalizio

Il canale televisivo britannico Channel 4 ha annunciato che "Black Mirror", il "Twilight Zone dell'era moderna", tornerà con uno speciale natalizio.

Il creatore dello show, Charlie Brooker, ha dichiarato di aver sempre amato una buona storia di fantasmi Natalizia e di essere un fan degli horror anni '70, perciò il suo obbiettivo è di riuscire a creare una storia in stile Black Mirror che sia l'equivalente di quei due generi.
Phil Clarke, in rappresentanza di Channel 4, si è detto entusiasta di avere uno speciale natalizio di "Black Mirror", e che Brooker ha ideato una storia festiva ambientata in un futuro distopico, che unisce tre storie per raggiungere un twist drammatico e sconvolgente. Sarà un episodio satirico, comico, disturbante e provocatorio, da non perdere.

News: Showtime rinnova Masters of Sex e Ray Donovan

Showtime ha da poco annunciato che "Masters of Sex" e "Ray Donovan" torneranno il prossimo anno per la terza stagione, entrambe composte da 12 episodi.

Il presidente di Showtime, David Nevins, ha rilasciato una dichiarazione nella quale spiega che i due show rappresentano a pieno il canale nel loro essere coraggiose e provocative, e che la voglia del pubblico di seguire queste serie è dovuto ai loro personaggi complessi ed interessanti.
